Inspired by the older Urwerk UR-CC1 “King Cobra” model, Swiss watchmaker Urwerk best known for its creativity, is taking it to another level introducing a new mechanical masterpiece called the UR-111C. Housed in 42mm wide by 46mm long, and 15mm thick case, featuring a mix of finishes, it has an AR-coated sapphire crystal and it is water resistant to 30 meters. Inside is the Urwerk automatic caliber with 37 jewels beating at 4 Hz (28,800 vph), and a power reserve of 48 hours.
The Urwerk UR-111C also features world-firsts in watchmaking, uses an array of optical fibers to project the numbers up toward the sapphire crystal window.
“There has to be a strong bond with a mechanism that merges into your wrist: a machine becomes part of you and gives you information in return for energy. It’s an exchange. For this reason, we created a new interface with the watch. Instead of the conventional crown at the end of the stem, we conceived a roller integrated into the top of the case for a new sensation.” – Felix Baumgartner
Priced at CHF 130’000.00 before taxes, the Urwerk UR-111C is limited to 50 pieces, 25 in polished steel and 25 with a gunmetal finish. For more info be sure to visit Urwerk’s website.
