Omega introduced an incredibly light wristwatch that is also incredibly expensive, the Seamaster Aqua Terra “Ultra Light”. Developed in collaboration with Omega ambassador Rory McIlroy, the new timepiece is housed in a 41mm case made of an alloy called Gamma Titanium, a first use for Omega.
The dial of the “Ultra Light” is fashioned from sandblasted grade 5 titanium, featuring stripes in negative relief with luminous hands and markers. The aluminium seconds hand, Seamaster logo, and quarter hour indeces are available in in red (ref. 220.127.116.11.06.001), blue (ref. 18.104.22.168.06.002), or green (ref. 22.214.171.124.06.003).
The ergonomic “Ultra Light” weighs just 55g on its sporty fabric strap. Inside is the Swiss manual-wind Omega in-house caliber 8928 Ti made mostly of titanium with 29 jewels, 28,800 vph and a power reserve of 3 days.
“I’m proud to have a played a role in the development of Omega’s new lightweight sports watch. I know what an athlete needs in a watch and through collaboration with Omega we were able to modify the timepiece. The new “Ultra Light” is an absolute pleasure to wear, whatever sport you play, said Omega golf ambassador Rory McIlroy.
Available from January 2020, the Seamaster Aqua Terra Ultra Light will be priced at US$48,600. For more info visit Omega’s website.
