Blending Bugatti’s Legacy with Its Future Vision

Inspired by the legendary Bugatti Type 41 Royale—an artistic homage to Rembrandt Bugatti, the famed sculptor and brother of Ettore Bugatti—the Calandre proudly features the iconic horseshoe grille, a hallmark of Bugatti’s design legacy. Its name, Calandre, meaning “radiator grille” in French, pays tribute to Bugatti’s French heritage. Positioned above this signature detail is the Bugatti Macaron logo, instantly recognizable by its rich red hue cherished by automotive enthusiasts and collectors worldwide. Crowned with a 30mm Jacob-cut gemstone and elegantly framed by twin crystal elephants, the design beautifully merges artistry and heritage.

To complete the design, Jacob & Co. incorporated a clock caliber with a vertical flying tourbillon behind the iconic horseshoe grille. This not only references Bugatti’s recently unveiled Tourbillon hypercar but also honors the tourbillon’s original function of enhancing accuracy in vertically positioned watches.

A Unique Movement and Signature Jacob-Cut Gemstone

Jacob & Co. created a dedicated movement for the Bugatti Calandre featuring a vertical flying tourbillon, designed to improve accuracy by counteracting gravity. The manually wound JCAM58 caliber offers an eight-day power reserve, with time-setting and winding done via a special key on the caseback. Topping the clock is a 30mm red gemstone, inspired by the Bugatti Macaron, cut in Jacob & Co.’s signature 288-facet Jacob Cut for a unique sparkle.

Lalique’s Mastery in Crystal Craftsmanship

The Bugatti Calandre’s crystal case is handcrafted at Lalique’s historic workshop in Wingen-sur-Moder, France. Founded in 1922, the studio has refined techniques over decades to achieve unmatched clarity and brilliance. Molten crystal is poured into steel molds, then cooled and shaped. Expert artisans spend months polishing and frosting each piece to enhance clarity and bring the sculpted elephants to life through light and shadow.

Limited to 99 pieces and encased in a bespoke tan leather trunk inspired by Bugatti’s luxury interiors, the Calandre table clock embodies the perfect fusion of luxury, design, and innovation from both brands.
