Hublot has a habit of dropping special F1 watches for specific races. In 2011 the brand celebrated the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix with the F1 King Power Abu Dhabi. Only 250 were made and the whole design screams Yas Marina Circuit, from the bold blue accents to the racing-grade materials.
At first glance you notice the 48 mm carbon fiber case and the brake-disc style bezel in carbon fiber and black ceramic. Six black PVD titanium screws in Hublot’s H shape add that motorsport edge. The sapphire crystal is clean and easy to read thanks to an anti-reflective coating and a white minute track printed on the inside.
The dial keeps things sporty without getting busy. Black indexes glow blue in the dark and the hands are black nickel with more blue lume. Up top sits a power reserve indicator that uses green, white, and red dots to show how much runtime you have left.
Inside beats the Hublot HUB4247, an automatic chronograph built for split-seconds timing. It has 293 parts and 31 jewels with rhodium-plated bridges coated in black ruthenium. You get about 42 hours of power reserve and 100 meters of water resistance from the carbon fiber case-back.
On the wrist the watch sits on an adjustable black rubber and Nomex strap. Blue stitching along the edges ties the look back to the blue run-off areas of the Abu Dhabi track. The clasp is a micro-blasted black PVD titanium deployment buckle with a black ceramic insert.
