Ferrari announced the 2013 California convertible before showing it off at the Geneva Motor Show in 2012. And honestly, this update actually matters. First, they shaved off 30 kg of weight. Not huge, but you notice it when you’re pushing the car. The V8 got the real treatment though. They bumped it up to 490 hp and 505 Nm of torque. That’s 30 extra horses compared to the old model, which sounds small until you’re actually driving it. The torque bump helps too.
The steering is where things get interesting for me. They changed the steering ratio by 10 percent, making it quicker and more responsive. You don’t need to crank the wheel as hard anymore. Feels way more connected, especially if you actually drive these things on real roads instead of just parking them.
With the Geneva Motor Show right around the corner, everyone is waiting for the full reveal. It looks like Ferrari managed to keep the elegance but gave it a much-needed kick of adrenaline
