A beautiful Heuer “Monaco” production 1133b worn by Steve McQueen in the film “Le Mans” fetched $799,500 at an auction of film memorabilia. The watch in question possesses a retro 60s style matt blue dial with a black leather vented strap, and it was the first ever automatic and square cased chronograph watch. Launched in 1969 the Heuer Monaco was almost instantly made famous, because Steve McQueen chose to wear the watch in the 1971 film Le Mans. The buyers were not identified.
