Swiss luxury watchmakers RJ-Romain Jerome has released a new timepiece paying tribute to an iconic Eighties legend, the DeLorean automobile. The case, measuring 46mm wide, is crafted from brushed stainless steel and incorporates metal from an original DeLorean DMC-12 in the bezel of the watch. It houses a Swiss mechanical automatic caliber RJ001-CH movement with 23 jewels, a 42 hour power reserve and chronograph function.
The strap is made of upholstery leather with anthracite grey stitching reminiscent of the DeLorean car’s interior. Limited to 81 watches, the edition references 1981, the year of the DeLorean’s first production.
The dial design evokes the original DMC-12 with the sub-dial at 9 o’clock patterned after the car’s tail lights and the ring surrounding the minute counter at 3 o’clock reminiscent of the wheel rims. A medallion engraved with a DeLorean adorns the case-back along with the serial number of the watch.
