Breitling’s Jet Team is finally coming to North America, first tour ever, and of course there is a watch attached. It is the Chronomat 44 Blacksteel and they are making 500 of them. That is the whole story, really, but the details are fun. 44mm of blacksteel, AR-coated sapphire on top. Turn the watch over and the caseback has the tour logo engraved into it, which is exactly the sort of thing that seems minor in a press release and ends up being the reason you buy it.
The movement is Breitling’s own B-01. 25 jewels, 28,800 vph, 46 hours of reserve, chronometer certified. Fine, all of it. What you will actually notice is the dial. Onyx black with yellow accents pulled from the team’s L-39C Albatros jets. From a distance it reads as a black watch. Up close it is anything but.
You can only get it at Breitling boutiques or a handful of retailers. If one of the 500 is meant for you, you probably already know.
