Following the launch of a limited-edition Chronograph 1 in partnership with Porsche Design last month, Hodinkee is back with their newest collaboration. This time, they’ve teamed up with TAG Heuer to reimagine the classic Abercrombie & Fitch Seafarer, a watch originally produced by Heuer for the American retailer from the 1950s to the mid-1970s.
Drawing inspiration from the 1968 “2446C Seafarer,” the new edition showcases a 42mm stainless steel case, a black opalin dial highlighted with striking blue accents, and a specialized tide indicator positioned at 9 o’clock. The new limited edition masterfully blends classic 1960s dial elements and colors with the contemporary, sleek “Glassbox” case design, creating a striking timepiece perfect for the late summer season.
Faithful to the original color palette, the black opaline dial is accented with both sky and royal blue hues. The “regatta” counter at 3 o’clock tracks chronograph minutes (up to 30), while the subdial at 6, marked “Seafarer,” displays the running seconds. The sub-register at 9 completes the layout. A closer look reveals the Seafarer logo subtly repositioned to the sub-register at 6 o’clock, adopting a Carrera-inspired font reminiscent of the original’s bold typography.
The new TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph Seafarer x Hodinkee is equipped with the in-house TH20-13 Tide Indicator Chronograph Caliber. This movement operates at 28,800 vibrations per hour and offers an impressive 80-hour power reserve. To complete the look, TAG Heuer has equipped the watch with a black rubber deployant strap that features an appealing woven texture.
Priced at $7,950, the Carrera Chronograph Seafarer is a limited edition of 968 pieces. Of these, 125 will be available through the Hodinkee Shop, with the remaining watches distributed through TAG Heuer boutiques and retailers globally.
