Mercedes‑Maybach and Matthias Bosse’s Splendid Sea announced plans for a floating private members’ club at last week’s Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show. The aptly named Maybach Ocean Club, situated on the 500‑foot gigayacht Beyond Horizons, will comprise 30 suites with private balconies, outstanding gastronomy, premier wellness facilities, a variety of water thrills, and signature Maybach luxury.

A New Era of Co-Ownership: The Maybach Ocean Club

According to Boat International, Maybach plans a 300‑member co‑ownership scheme giving each owner four weeks per year aboard the yacht, including private suites. To avoid a cruise‑ship vibe, rotations will be staggered and maximum guest count capped at 72; owners may also hop on when the yacht is in their vicinity to use communal areas.

Unprecedented Equality: Inside the Residential Suites

The yacht offers 30 identical residential‑style suites, each 74 m² with a private balcony. “We didn’t want categories,” Bosse said. “No master suite upstairs and tiny cabins below. All 30 suites are equal.”

Design Philosophy: A Collaboration of German Excellence

The ship’s concept was developed by German firm Dölker + Voges for Splendid Sea in close collaboration with Mercedes‑Maybach designers. Initial sketches included daring touches, such as an attention‑grabbing hull colour, but the final direction favours an elegant, enduring profile. The yacht uses materials and colours lifted from the Maybach playbook, with the brand’s signet on the bow; the bespoke interior is finished to the same precise, luxurious standards.

Beyond Horizons: Specifications and Features

The debut vessel, Beyond Horizons, is a 155‑metre, 15,000+ GT ship staffed by 80–85 crew — large enough to deliver hotel‑level service yet compact enough to keep a yacht’s intimacy. It is not intended to be a cruise ship.

How to Join This Exclusive Superyacht Club

Applications for invitations are open on the Maybach Ocean Club website. Members will be charged an annual fee of approximately 5% of their original investment to fund crew management, fuel, port fees, insurance and ongoing maintenance.
