Swiss watchmaker Breitling has released a new variant in its Avenger series, the Avenger Blackbird. The timepiece features a 48mm carbon-coated titanium case that keeps things light despite the size, paired with a black Volcano dial under an AR-coated sapphire crystal. Water resistance goes down to 300 meters, so this thing is not afraid of depth. The blacked-out look had already appeared on the Avenger line in late 2013, with the Super Avenger Military Chronograph, a 48mm steel watch with a carbon black coating and a 24-hour dial, limited to 500 pieces.
Inside beats the Swiss automatic Breitling caliber 17 with 25 jewels, 28,800 vph and a 42-hour power reserve. It is COSC-certified as a chronometer, which means the accuracy has been independently verified rather than just promised.
The Avenger Blackbird ships on a military-style fabric strap with a titanium buckle. Simple, tough and ready for whatever you throw at it.
