To celebrate the reopening of its Beverly Hills boutique, French luxury label Hermès has unveiled a basketball priced at $12,900. The ball is made of blue calfskin using the same hand-stitched technique as the brand’s iconic Birkin bag, under the creative direction of Pierre-Alexis Dumas in Paris. Only two have been produced; however, they can be specially ordered from the brand’s Paris atelier.
Hermès’ American CEO Robert Chavez assures that the ball can “certainly be used for play — the leather is sturdy, and why not make such a unique item come to life on the court?”
At that price, it better be!
