Hermès is expanding its definition of luxury mobility with the launch of a new carbon-fiber bicycle collection. Featuring two distinct models—the unisex leisure version, Le Flâneur d’Hermès, and the more athletic Le Flâneur sportif d’Hermès—the line is handmade in France through a partnership with specialist manufacturer Time. The collection arrives in a sophisticated palette of charcoal, red, and white.

Francois Dore, managing director of Hermès’ Horizons department, emphasized the brand’s commitment to French craftsmanship in a statement to WWD, noting that the goal was to create a “real bike” rather than a mere decorative piece. According to Dore, the design priority was a seamless blend of efficiency, simplicity, and elegance.

“We really want to work with people who have a very deep expertise, and wherever possible, we try to find them in France,” said Doré, whose department also develops interiors for cars and private jets. “We set out to make a real bike, not a decorative object. It had to be simple, efficient, easy to use, pleasant and elegant.”

Launching this November in Hermès boutiques globally, these luxury cycles are priced at €8,100 (approximately $10,750).

Hermès isn’t the only fashion house to have tested the waters of high-end cycling — earlier that same month, Marc Jacobs unveiled a limited-edition bamboo bicycle in collaboration with Panda Bicycles, signaling that luxury fashion’s interest in two wheels was quickly gaining momentum.
